Winter Guard Enters Season

During the football season, San Luis Obispo High School Band worked very hard to win several competitions such as both the Selma and Pismo Competitions. They received many awards, including second place for Visual Department which is for Color Guard. The members of Color Guard, now known as Winter Guard, are getting ready to perform at the spirit rally on January 19 in the big gym. Expressions interviewed Winter Guard captain sophomore Cheyenne Miller to find out what it’s all about.

Expressions: What is Winter Guard?

Sophomore Cheyenne Miller: It’s kind of like Color Guard, but there is no marching involved. Winter Guard is more performance and dance.

Expressions: What is the hardest thing about your work?

Miller: It depends on the person, but usually flag tosses are the hardest.

Expressions: How does being a captain mek you feel?

Miller: I feel really proud of everybody who is in Color Guard and Winter Guard because they all progress so much. It’s fun teaching other people about something I’m very confident in and passionate about.

Expressions: What would you tell someone who is interested in joining Winter Guard?

Miller: Winter Guard is free for everyone. We will welcome everybody who wants to join.
